In the community: Speaking at Gates Foundation Meeting

During the week of March 22, I’ll be traveling to Washington D.C. to represent Inigral at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Postsecondary Business Convening. The conversation will be an important step in understanding how the business community can play a catalytic role to help dramatically increase the number of young adults who earn a degree at a reasonable cost in a reasonable time. My presentation will be to representatives from Fortune 100 organizations including Coca Cola and T-Mobile to help educate them on the importance of investing in developing technologies that effect areas like student retention and persistence.

Our Schools on Facebook application is being utilized on campuses around the US to help positively impact these troubled areas. The fortune 500 companies that will be in attendance have a vested interest in our efforts as they have a direct effect on the quality of talent that each of our client institutions produce. It’s great to have an active voice in the dialogue between schools, employers, companies, and the investors that are focusing on improving our market. The meeting on the 23rd will be followed by my travels to Seattle for a follow-up meeting with the team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation headquarters for an educational session on social media and how it can be used to engage young people in the education space.

If you are in the D.C. or Seattle area, and want to touch base about your department’s Facebook efforts, feel free to email me at mpstaton [at] inigral [dot] com referencing this blog post. To learn more about the Gates Foundation postsecondary success strategy, click here.
