Introducing Genjuice: Where Gen-Y Meets Power Networking

Besides being the birthdays of several star-studded celebrities including NBA All-Star Dirk Nowitski, Actress Zoe Saldana, and Pop Star Paula Abdul, today also marks the debut of the Gen-Y focused power networking tour, GenJuice. Founded by Danielle Leslie (Cal ‘07), Virgilia Singh (ASU ‘09), and Arielle Patrice Scott (Cal ‘11), the organization sets out to create a vehicle for like-minded, entrepreneurial, young go-getters to network and use one another as resources for professional growth.
Hosted by video “livestreaming” company Justin.tv, the first event was a success with over 30 entrepreneurial-minded folks from the San Francisco Bay area in attendance. The day began with a keynote from the founder of Lithium Technologies, Lyle Fong. Fong inspired the audience with his personal story of entrepreneurship, which began walking the halls of Cal’s dorms looking for customers for his low-cost computer manufacturing venture.

Later in the day, breakout sessions convened around themes voted-upon by attendees, covering topics ranging from balancing a 9-5 job with life, and other entreprenurial ventures, to advice for starting a venture from scratch. To conclude the event, Daniel Brusilovsky, Co-founder of Teens in Tech, spoke about his experience as a 17-year old entrepreneur.
This was inspirational to many not only because of Daniel’s age, but also because of the types of goals he was able to accomplish with limited resources. To top it off, team Genjuice livestreamed the entire day’s events to over 2,000 viewers on their Justin.tv channel. For this event (and for future ones), this allowed the folks at home to tune in, listen to presentations, and also give feedback on ideas that are pitched during an elevator pitch session with attendees.

If you’re reading this blog post, chances are you can benefit from attending a Genjuice event when it comes to your city. Every week this summer, the team will be traveling across the US to find the most entrepreneurial gen-y (and non-gen-y cool kids ;-) to network.
