Managing Pages on the Go? There’s an App for that

In preparation for their IPO Facebook has been releasing a variety of updates and changes to boost the market’s confidence in their offering and product direction.

One of the biggest concerns about Facebook’s future surounds their ability to engage and monetize on mobile platforms.

As a user, I’m not particularly fond of Facebook’s iPhone experience and I definitely haven’t enjoyed monitoring and managing Facebook Pages on the go.

In response to the growing need for an improved mobile experience, Facebook has released a new app called Page Manager to improve the services monitoring and reporting capabilities.

Breakdown of the new features

According to ZDnet here are a list of the following features:

Pages Manager helps admins connect with their audience and keep up with activity on multiple Pages, all in one place.

Features:

  • Post new updates and photos as your Page
  • Get notified about new activity on your Page when it happens, no matter where you are
  • Respond, post and comment as your Page while you’re on-the-go
  • Manage all your Facebook Pages from one app
  • View your latest Page Insights

Announced, but not released.

As with many new Facebook features there is no exact word when it will be released in the United States. Interestingly enough, it has already been released on the Apple Store in New Zealand and Canada.

I’m curious to hear from the higher ed community, is this a major win for your management? Or does this just provide one more excuse for your to take work with you tethered by your phone?
