Schools on Facebook and The Big Decision
Hey everyone! My name is Daniel Brusilovsky and I just graduated high school a few weeks ago, and I’ll soon be venturing into the world of college. For many, going to college is a simple decision — just go. In my case, it was a little harder of a decision. School wasn’t my only priority throughout high school — I have started my own company, where I was CEO until April 2010, worked at mobile video startup Qik, worked at TechCrunch, and consulted to numerous companies. This made for a difficult decision in my future where I could keep on living my entrepreneurial lifestyle, or go to college, and attempt to continue with entrepreneurship on the side.
After months of talking to my parents in-depth, as well as advisors and mentors, the decision was pretty clear: my only option was to go to college. So here I am, ready to go to College of San Mateo in the Fall.
Now that I know where I’m going to school, I wish I knew more than twenty people that will be attending the same school as me, and would love to find entrepreneurial people like me to meet, and share ideas with.
I originally found out about the Schools on Facebook app through Tony Zanders at Inigral. And after hearing some of the colleges that were using Schools on Facebook, I realized that one of my friends will be attending Arizona State University in the fall, and he would be using the app.
Schools on Facebook is such a powerful system for colleges that I wish every college in the United States would start to use. The ability for me to find out which students will be attending College of San Mateo with me in the Class of 2014 is so good. Even better, it lets me find out which students care about the same things that I do, making my introduction to college so much easier and more enjoyable.
Unfortunately, Schools on Facebook isn’t available at every school at this point, but the fact that some of my friends are able to use this application makes me very jealous of them, and hopefully the next class attending College of San Mateo will be able to use Schools on Facebook.
