Brown University Gets Record 30,000 Applicants Thanks to Social Media

Brown University has been flooded with a record 30,000 applications for the 1,500 spots in it’s next undergraduate class. Dean of Admission James S. Miller cited the university’s positive reviews in the media and on social-networking Web sites for this year’s rise in applications, which follows a 20 percent increase in 2008-2009.

Microblogs in Higher Education – a chance to facilitate informal and process oriented learning

Microblogging is one of the latest Web 2.0 Technologies. The key elements are online communication using 140 characters and the fact that it involves “following” anyone. There has been a great deal of excitement about this in recent months.
